AI and Automated Content
Some of what you see in Chasr is gathered or written by software, including AI models. This page says where, what those systems are given, and how to get something fixed when they get it wrong.
The short version
- Many deals in the app are gathered automatically from bars' public posts and published without a person checking each one first. They can be wrong.
- Each bar's Review Summary is written by an AI model from public Google reviews of that bar and the reviews written in Chasr, which count double.
- If you choose to post a Check Line photo, an AI model looks at that photo before anyone else sees it. Nothing else you do in the app is sent to AI.
- Our deal and event calendar is drafted by AI from bars' public posts, and a person confirms each item before it first appears in the app.
- We use AI to help draft our own social media posts. A person reviews every post and publishes it by hand.
- No AI system we run is given your phone number, your location, your friends, your crawls or messages, or anything that identifies you. A Check Line photo is sent on its own, without your name or account.
- AI is not used to make decisions about you. It does not decide who can use the app, what you are offered, or what you pay.
Deals gathered automatically
Deals and events in Chasr come from three places:
- From the bar. A bar that has claimed its venue posts its own deals in its dashboard on chasr.club. Those are the bar's own words.
- Gathered automatically. For other deals, an automated system reads bars' public websites, their own public Instagram posts (including the flyer images bars post), and public Google listings. It never signs in to anything and never reads private accounts or messages. One AI model, from an outside AI provider, pulls out the deal; a second AI model checks it against the same source; and it is published to the app without a person reviewing it first.
- Our deal and event calendar. Each morning our internal tool reads bars' public websites and their public Instagram posts, including the images in them, and uses an AI model to list the deals and events they announce for the coming weeks. A second AI model checks each one against its source, and a person on our team confirms it before it first appears in the app. If the bar later changes it at the source, the tool can update the listing.
Images bars post can show people. These systems use them only to read the offer or the event, and we do not publish them.
A gathered deal shows when it was last checked against its source, for example "Checked today". That is not a promise it is running tonight. Gathered deals that are not confirmed again are taken down after 14 days. A deal in the app is information, not an offer from Chasr, and only the bar decides whether to honor it.
Review Summaries
A bar page can show a Review Summary: a short paragraph and scores for Drinks, Value, Service, Atmosphere, and Wait and Entry. It is written by an AI model from an outside AI provider, from public Google reviews of that bar together with the reviews people write in Chasr. Where there are too few reviews to judge something, it says so instead of guessing. Summaries are refreshed from time to time as reviews come in.
Reviews you write in Chasr count double in the summary, because they come from people who were actually there and there are fewer of them. Only the stars and the text are sent, never your handle, photo, or anything else about you. A review that is edited, removed, or taken down drops out the next time that bar's summary is refreshed.
A summary is an AI's reading of other people's opinions. It can be wrong.
Check Line photos
Check Line lets someone standing at a bar post a photo of its line, taken with the in-app camera. Before your first post the app asks you to agree to what follows.
When you post, the photo is sent to an outside AI provider's model, on its own, without your name, handle, account, or location. The model checks that it shows the line, the door or the crowd, and nothing sexual, violent, hateful, or private such as a readable ID. Only a photo that passes is stored and shown. Anyone looking at that bar can see it until the bar closes (12 hours at most), with how long ago it was taken and never who took it. Your exact location is not stored with it, only how far you were from the bar.
The model decides whether a photo is posted. It does not decide anything else about you. Anyone can report a posted photo, and it comes down when five people report it or when our team does.
What AI is never given
None of the AI features described on this page receive your phone number, handle, profile photo, account ID, location or visit history, friends, crawls or crawl messages, the deals you activate, or your push token. Three things from your use of the app reach AI: the stars and text of a review you write, for that bar's Review Summary, without your name; crowd counts for our social drafts, which are per-bar totals that never cover fewer than three people and never say who; and a Check Line photo you choose to post, sent on its own. The deal-gathering systems work from bars' public websites and posts.
Review summaries, Check Line photo checks, social drafts, the deal and event calendar, and event suggestions are processed by an outside AI provider acting as our service provider. Instagram posts are fetched through Instagram's official tools for businesses or through a web data service. More on our providers is in the Privacy Policy.
Report a mistake
- In the app: on a bar's page, tap Report a deal and say whether it is wrong, expired, or was not honored. When three different people report a bar's gathered deals as expired or not honored within 21 days, those deals come down until they are confirmed again.
- Bars: claim your venue at chasr.club/claim to post your own deals, or use our contact page to correct or remove anything we show for your bar, including a gathered deal or a summary. We take down a deal a bar tells us it does not offer.
- Anyone: message us in the app (Settings → Message Us) or use our contact page with the bar and what is wrong.

Our social media and events
We use an internal tool built on an outside AI provider's models to help draft social media posts and deal graphics about Ann Arbor bars. It works from public information: bar names, published deals and events, public posts from other accounts that we use as style references, and per-bar totals of Chasr visits, only for bars where at least three people visited. To find ideas, it can also search the public web for news and happenings in Ann Arbor. A person reviews every draft, and posting is always done by hand. Our daily deal graphics are built straight from the deal's text without AI.
The same tool uses AI to suggest upcoming events from bars' public websites and posts. A person approves every event before it first appears in the app.
We do not use AI to create images or videos of people.
