Community Guidelines

Chasr is for planning nights out with people you know. These rules cover everything people can post in it: your handle, your profile photo, reviews of bars, messages in a crawl, and friend requests. They are part of our Terms of Use, and the app shows the same rules under Settings, Community rules.

Zero tolerance

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Do not post or send anything that is:

  • harassing, bullying, hateful, threatening, or aimed at hurting a person
  • sexual, sexually suggestive, or nude
  • violent or gory
  • someone else's private information, such as a phone number, address, or where they are
  • an impersonation of another person, a bar, or Chasr
  • promoting illegal activity, including underage drinking, drunk driving, drugs, or fake IDs
  • pressuring anyone to drink, or to drink more
  • spam, advertising, scams, or links to them
  • someone else's photo or work that you do not have the right to share

Handles and photos

Your handle and photo are seen by your friends, by people on a crawl with you, and next to any review you write. Pick a handle that is not offensive and does not pretend to be someone else. Your photo should be of you, or of something you have the right to use, and never of anyone under 21. We can change or remove a handle or photo that breaks these rules.

Reviews

Reviews are public to everyone using the app. Write about a place you actually went, and say what you found. Do not review a bar you own or work at, do not review a competitor to hurt it, and do not post a review someone paid or rewarded you for. Bad experiences are fine to share; false statements of fact are not.

Crawls and messages

Messages in a crawl are seen only by the people on that crawl. Keep them to the plan. Do not use a crawl, a friend request, or a friend's location to follow someone, or to show up where you are not welcome.

Reporting

Tap the ... menu on a review, a crawl message, or a friend's profile, or choose Ignore on a friend request, then Report. You can also message us in the app (Settings → Message Us) or use our contact page with the handle and what happened. Every report reaches a person on our team. We do not tell the person you reported who reported them.

A deal that is wrong is a different kind of report: use Report a deal on the bar's page.

Blocking

The same ... menu has Block. It works straight away: the person is removed from your friends and their crawl messages are hidden from you. Undo it any time in Settings → Blocked accounts.

What we do

We review every report within 24 hours. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and the account that posted it can be suspended or deleted. Threats, hate, and sexual content get no second chance. We may also remove content or accounts we find ourselves, and we may pass threats of violence or content involving a minor to the police.

If you think we got a decision wrong, message us in the app (Settings → Message Us) or use our contact page and we will look at it again.

If someone is in danger

Chasr is not an emergency service and our team does not watch reports in real time. If you or someone with you is in danger, call 911. Look out for your friends, and never let anyone drive after drinking.

These guidelines are part of our Terms of Use. How we handle the information in reports is in our Privacy Policy.
